Description
The Yellow Dzambhala thangka is a sacred Tibetan painting that portrays the Buddhist deity of wealth, Dzambhala, in his most well-known yellow form. He is considered a manifestation of Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezig), the bodhisattva of compassion, and helps remove both spiritual and material poverty.
At the center of the thangka sits Yellow Dzambhala on a white lion, symbolizing fearless compassion. His face appears wrathful, showing his commitment to crushing greed and ego. In one hand, he holds a mongoose that spits jewels—a symbol of generosity and abundance.
Surrounding him are other protectors and enlightened figures, including deities like Vajrapani and possibly Green Tara. Below, we see wrathful forms like Mahakala and Dakini deities that protect practitioners from inner and outer obstacles.
These thangkas are not just art—they are meditation tools and ritual objects. They help practitioners focus on cultivating generosity and invoke Dzambhala’s blessings to bring prosperity and balance into their lives.
